Written By: Amy KentJanuary is long gon, (yo, it’s February, already!), those obsessions are still around, but we’re adding more to the list for February! I feel like 2019 is a year of growth for so many people, myself and Diesel Doll included! Some people are working on growing their businesses, working on building trucks, working on growing kids and hopefully, teaching them to not be little a-holes (Life goals!), and most importantly, people are working on themselves. Working on yourself can be physical or mental, often times both! It’s all growth, and if your not growing, your not living and loving life! We touch on this in this post, because we feel it’s important, not only to me, but to the Diesel Doll team, and we hope it helps you, if even a little! January’s Obsessions list was such a hit and we had so much fun creating it, we decided to run with it by making it a monthly series! We try to brainstorm together on the list, so it isn’t all from me, it’s often a collaboration from the Diesel Doll team, Nikki, Kelsey, Kassy and myself. Which is fun, because we all bring different interests, other than diesel trucks to the table. This month’s giveaway, may or may not contain a giveaway. The details may or may not be at the end of this blog. Maybe. Maybe not. You should really just read through and find out for yourself! *REMEMBER- not all items on this list are trick or diesel related. And, so links may be affiliate links, meaning, Diesel Doll may make a tad bit of change off of any sale that may take place, at absolutely NO added cost to you as the consumer. Any profit obtained goes toward maintenance of www.dieseldoll.net. GIRL, WASH YOUR FACE!I know, your like, “This book? How original, AMY!”. But, hear me out. I was hesitant at first. I read a review on amazon and was like meh. Then my close friend at work, was like you need this in your life. Sooooo, still hesitant, the book sat in my Amazon cart for weeks. For real. Then once I hit order, the poor book sat on my bedside table for a month... or better! (Sorry, Mrs. Hollis!) Finally, one day, I picked it up, read a few pages... and stopped. Not on purpose and not because it was not good, or it wasn’t for me; maybe it’s because I have two small children who want to be the center of momma’s attention (well, three of you count my husband- kidding... or am I!? Kidding. Maybe.)! On the real, I realize now, that it wasn’t time for me to read it. I think God (or ‘divine intervention’, ‘fate’ or whatever you believe in) just knew when I would need this book and its message most. The author, Rachel Hollis, hits on so many topics in which so many of us can relate to. Whether it’s bad relationships, bad sex, feeling like your a bad mom or wife, feeling like you are not hitting your goals on time- Hollis HITS. THEM. ALL. Most importantly, Hollis reminds (and even teaches) you to get out of your own way, so you can be happy! So you can happily chase your dreams! Click here to order your copy.. or keep reading! GRATITUDE JOURNALINGHave you ever heard of gratitude journaling? Yea? Have you ever tried it for yourself? No? You really should try it! Starting at the beginning of the year, I set a goal for myself (no, not a New Years Reaolution, those don’t last! A GOAL!). My goal was to journal my gratitude at least three days a week. If I manage to do more, great! Many people do every day, even better; if your like me though, GIRL, YOU ARE BUSSSYYYY! We just have to remind ourselves, we’re not too busy to be grateful, so I often times make mental checklists (y’all know I love lists!) or not notes in my planner (I also love planners!) about things I want to put in my gratitude journal when I get a chance to sit down with it. There is a couple of reasons I do this, and there’s many ways to journal your thanks. Some proven reasons to gratitude journal is actually really interesting. I googled them and read blogs about it! One of the reasons that I do it, is for its calming affects. I suffer from anxiety at times, and this really helps to center me. It’s also helpful in reducing stress- which is wonderful, I mean, what adult woman doesn’t encounter stress at times? Both of these reasons alone, really help to focus you on what is important and what you want and need more of in your life. Gratitude journaling will also help you learn more about YOURSELF! On days where you may be having a difficult time finding something to be grateful for, or your having an off day, you can flip back to previous posts, and it will help you get of your funk and help you remember that you do have a lot to be grateful for! Some people wrote paragraphs to pages, some people do one liners; do what’s best for you! This is my next notebook to start, I like cute notebooks!! TRUCK VIDEOSWe love truck videos. You know the ones, the ones showing off a nasty build, a SEMA build or a fast truck gettin’ it done at the track. Rolling footage, shots of the detail or paint job, the lift, under the hood, all the small details the owner thinks to put into it- we love it all. Pair that up with a “snazzy” song, you’ve got chill bumps on my arms- meaning, I love it. We hope to see a lot of them this year, with the season coming up for pulling, drag racing and shows, we’re getting excited. Event footage is also a lot of fun to watch! MEQUIAR’S GOLD CLASSSeriously, I love this soap. (I use the word seriously, a lot- just noticed that *insert eye roll emoji*) This is the only soap I will wash and of our vehicles in. I love it so much, I craved it when I was pregnant with my oldest, let me clarify- I craved the SMELL of it! Actually, any Mequiar’s product I have ever used smells amazing. Once weather warms up a bit more (it’s currently 65 degrees outside in Georgia, but if you know anything about well water, you know it’s cold!), anyways, once weather and the water is a bit warmer, my truck is getting a complete detail. I am taking about clay bar and waxed, waxed and waxed some more! Also, after a day of washing trucks, Mequiars will have your wedding ring shinning, ‘shinning bright like a diamon in the sky’! But, seriously, NO, FOR REAL- Mequiar’s Gold Class soap is the best soap for washing your vehicles. Fight me! (Insert wonky emoji!) ALEXAObviously. I am behind on electronic gadgets and such, that happens when your busy, sometimes! Oddly enough, my dad gifted me one, when he was somehow given two from somewhere, who knows with him. My husband likes to ask her the weather- every morning, at like 4:30, when he knows everyone else is trying to sleep. My oldest likes to hear “Awexa pway” Let it Go or anything from Moana. I enjoy letting her play my favorite music while I cook or work on Diesel Doll stuff or stuff for my other small side gig. I also like to play her games, Jeopardy (reminds of doing homework after school at my grandmother’s house!) and music trivia are both my favorites. Alexa will be a part of our truck washing days, I’ll let her DJ the day, or me and my husband will lovingly fight over what we want her to play! That is a wrap on February’s obsession list! What are you obsessed with right now? Tell us below in the comments! GIVEAWAY TIMEI have been thinking about it for a while now, we are planning other giveaways too, but I really feel lead to gift the book I talked about above to ONE winner. ‘Girl, Wash Your Face’ has been such a motivator for me, I feel lead to pass along some positivity. I know, we’re a diesel truck blog and site, but we’re still women, we’re still people! We still need to be encouraged and grow! We all need a little positivity in our lives, and what better way to pay it forward and spread positivity?! No other way that I can think of right now! So, the contest will begin today, and end on February 15th, 2019. We will then choose one winner, and the winner will receive ONE copy of, ‘Girl, Wash Your Face’, on me!
